About the Course:

On this 8 week course you’ll be introduced step by step to the skills of mindfulness & compassion to transform your relationship to life’s difficulties - restoring physical and mental wellbeing, building resilience and giving you tools for a flourishing life. The course is suitable for those with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, ill health, fatigue, pain/tension or any chronic health condition.

The course is based on the award winning book ‘Mindfulness for Health’ by Vidyamala Burch and Danny Penman (BMA medical Book Awards, First prize 2014). The course has been developed by Breathworks - a globally recognised leader in teaching mindfulness and compassion to individuals and organisations worldwide. Founded in 2001.

Breathworks have a scientific evidence-base demonstrating the effectiveness of its approach. To find out more, visit the Breathworks website.

Mindfulness is a skill that builds through regular practice - so between the weekly sessions, there is 20 minutes of home practice each day (two led meditations, each 10 minutes long) as well as some reading and simple ideas to integrate mindfulness into everyday life. It’s good to consider whether you’re able to commit to this aspect of the course at this time. Please speak to us if you’re not sure.

“My cancer consultant supported me when I decided to try Mindfulness as a means to alleviate chronic pain experienced following treatment.

With regular practice over the months I have learnt to observe my pain and feelings with kindness rather than frustration and anxiety. Meditation with the breath helps to keep me grounded when I feel overwhelmed, by paying attention to the moment and letting thoughts drift by without overthinking.”
